The Blurb</ b>
Sonia and JD’s tempestuous attraction is as stormy as the rapids at Rishikesh. Not even a dip in icy waters can douse the sparks that fly when they are around each other.

JD’s recent divorce, however, has left him commitment phobic and bitter, and he doesn’t seem to want more than a physical relationship. At heart, Sonia is conservative; can she bring herself to accept a modern ‘live-in’ relationship, or will she push him away with her demands for a commitment?

The Author's Thoughts

'Sixteen and counting' are the number of cities that I have lived in so far. I like to think of myself as a 'Metronaut'. The myriad city cultures, the food, the hustle and bustle, the people are all elements of life that I thrive on and if you can have an 'Astronaut' why not a 'Metronaut' after all there are so many more of us out there?
definitely helps when I am dealing with my two children. I like reading, I like cooking, I like travelling and I love sitting like a mindless zombie in front of the TV and if anybody says anything to that....Aha! a 1000 truths come in very handy.
I also write under a pen name M.X Steele. Why? My daughter thought Adiana Ray was too boring a name.
I do hope you enjoy reading all my work because I believe passionately that though we writers love pontificating and are totally in love with whatever we write; at the end of it all it is the readers that matter and above all what we write has to be 'entertaining'.

Book review : Losing my religion.

Vishwas Mudagal 's debut novel "Losing my religion " is by Fingerprint publishing.Vishwas Mudagal is an engineer from RV College ,Bangalore. He turned entrepreneur at the age of eighteen & has founded many companies, since then, one after the other ! His is at present, the CEO of GoodWorkLabs ,a leading technology firm.

The cover of the book shows a distraught young man sitting on the floor. He is wearing a black leather jacket & dark grey ( almost black though not completely ) jeans .He is wearing a full sleeved shirt as the sleeves can be seen peeping out, a good four to five  inches from his jacket ..The jacket zipper is open, revealing the unbuttoned shirt. It reveals a horizontally striped tee shirt .He is wearing a chain or thread from which a rectangular pendant is hanging from  his neck on to his chest. He is wearing black shoes. He looks fair & yet the way, he is looking towards his right, makes one, wonder if his future is bleak. The wall behind him, is  yellow. The floor below, is light brown or buff colour.Towards the right hand top of the cover, the city of New York can be seen.

Rishi Rai is a gamer .He has started  a gaming company & failed. He is bankrupt & clueless about what to do next.He meets up an American,Alex  & before he knows it ,they are backpacking all over India.Rishi buys a shack in Goa & makes a decent living .He bumps into another American ...this time, it is a babe,Kyra & sparks fly ! And then ,too soon, she bids goodbye.Lover boy is distraught & pathetic. His American buddy decides that they should travel to get him out of this & they head to Kumbh Mela, the great ocean of a pilgrimage ! And then their lives change forever, when they witness Kumbh & it becomes their life.

Does the Kumbh mela bring peace & joy to Rishi Rai ? Does Kyra come back to him ? Rishi knows nothing about Kyra except that she is a passionate gamer just like him. What is Kyra & why did she disappear as suddenly as she arrived ? Will Rishi just languish in grief lamenting Kyra's departure ?  What has the future or rather the Kumbh mela  in store for him ?

The book is interesting in the beginning & then loses its steam. The escape from the Himalayan region looks too unrealistic as the buddies are always on a high, on drugs & drinks. The tale gets too predictable, from then onwards .There are too many foreigners in the plot, all Americans. It is no secret, that reality shows are  manipulated & scripted.Nothing new in the tale.It gets unbelievable that a business tycoon agrees to be part of a soap opera masquerading as a reality show just to degrade another. Corporates have many more tricks up their sleeves apart from  the idiot box ?The reality game show gets more shocking & degrading .And just like in Bollywood ,the readers know that the hero will win despite, all the odds .In fact, the more impossible it looks, the more is the predictability of the hero being larger than life ! This makes the story & characters too much unreal. The reader cannot empathise.

The print if slightly bigger ,would have been easier on the eyes. The chapters are short  & medium ; .The paper quality is good. There is an author's note in the beginning of the book followed by Epilogue. Then the Chapters start. There are 31 chapters, followed by the chapters describing the reality show.It is spread over 360 pages.Towards the end, is the Epilogue, followed by Fingerprint diaries ,wherein, a short interview of the author is given.

All in all, this book would be a hit with those who are gamers ,IT industry wallahs ,etc. With other readers who are the  majority ,it is  slow & a drag on the nerves.

Book Review : 60 Minutes

60 minutes is a tale set in Corporate India in the present time.It is from the desk of best selling author of 31,Upendra Namburi. He is engineer as also an MBA.He has written another book titled 8.He has a passion for writing novels on numbers. He has written for the press as also other leading publications. He lives in Gurgaon with his wife & son.

This novel is published by Westland Ltd.There are 26 chapters spread over 361 pages.First is the acknowledgement by the author .He is thankful to his family members. He is grateful to numerous friends & the entire team at Westland who saw this book through to publication. Initial chapters are lengthy & later they get shorter. The print is small & yet convenient to read.Paper quality is good.

Agastya is Chief Marketing Officer in an MNC .He has many rivals who envy his success. He has had too many one night stands & sometimes many night stands just short of an affair. As he gets ready to launch the most important product by his company, disaster strikes. He is on the edge.He is afraid of losing his wife to divorce. And even, the pet product launch by his company seems to be a mirage. He has just one hour or rather sixty minutes to save everything that is at stake. What will happen ? Will he be able to steer clear of the multiple threats which are looming ? Will his wife forgive him ? What about the product ? Will this lead to his losing his job ?

Maithili is successful in work .Yet she has never felt loved. She wants revenge .Will she get what she wants ? And, she must succeed in sixty minutes.Does she manage or does she fail ?

Sailesh is an academic who has forayed into the corporate world. He is brilliant & yet he needs to prove that he will not take things lying down. Especially when someone has taken things too far.Is Sailesh able to teach his opponent a lesson or two in sixty minutes ?

The tale is filled with action with everything happening too fast.Trading in stocks & shares drives many crazy & creates stress .The story moves back & forth in time .This makes the tale more impressive. The tale is of rivalry in the FMCG industry. The comparison with real life FMCGs is too obvious. The novel reveals that in business, there are no permanent enemies or friends.Only permanent interests.Hence, business of FMCGs is like politics - full of backstabbing ,intrigue, etal.

Some things are difficult to digest A character who is never flirting, is mouthing dialogues ," So ,did you enjoy her,..... ? "This is degrading women.Nowadays. when women have discovered their sexuality ,it is such talk which is regressive. Maithili has lost in love.Yet ,she keeps clinging to violent love. There is no gentleness in the love and sex.It is all too violent & full of pain.It is more like a battle, with the partners getting hurt.Nobody in their right senses can maintain such relationships.

All in all ,the tale is interesting though the violent love making, adds a jarring note.

About the Author
Even as a kid, Sundari Venkatraman absolutely loved the 'lived happily ever after' syndrome as she grew up reading all the fairy tales she could lay her hands on, Phantom comics, Mandrake comics and the like. It was always about good triumphing over evil and a happy end. Soon, into her teens, she switched her attention from fairy tales to Mills & Boon. While she loved reading both of these, she kept visualising what would have happened if there were similar situations happening in India; to a local hero and heroine.
Her imagination took flight and she always lived in a rosy cocoon of romance over the years. Then came the writing - a true bolt out of the blue! She could never string two sentences together. While her spoken English had always been excellent - thanks to her Grandpa - she could not write to save her life. She was bad at writing essays in both school and college. Later, when it was time to teach her kids, she could manage everything from Science to Mathematics and History & Geography.
When it came to writing compositions, her kids found her of no help at all. All this changed suddenly one fine day in the year 2000. She had just quit her job at a school's office and did not know what to do with her life. She was saturated with simply reading books. That's when she got home one evening after her walk and took some sheets of paper and began writing. It was like watching a movie that was running in her head - all those years of visualising Indian heroes and heroines needed an outlet and had to be put into words. That's how her first novel, The Malhotra Bride, took shape.
While she felt discouraged when publishing did not happen, it was her husband who kept encouraging her not to give up. There was no looking back after that. While publishing took a long time happening, Sundari continued to write novels and then short stories. Her luck turned when Indireads approached her to write for them and Double Jeopardy was born.
Now it’s all about self-publishing her books on Amazon. Her first self-published book is The Malhotra Bride (2nd Edition) in February 2014. Then came Meghna in June 2014. And now it's time to unveil The Runaway Bridegroom, all set to release on September 13, 2014.
